Excellent article, thank you. I called Campbell’s soup after I had a terrible heart palpitation after eating a can of Campbell’s Soup. I asked them if they knew about any heart palpitation reactions, and they said, “No, you’re the only one.” Well, I certainly can’t believe that I am the only one in the world that experienced heart problems after ingesting MSG. What if people have heart attacks every day after eating lunch or dinner and no one knows why? What if? What if I finally discovered the reason for years of heart palpitations after I ate that none of the Dr.’s I went to could figure out? Well- I stopped eating MSG related products that day, and guess what? I did discover the reason for ME…MSG. I have been reading articles that MSG causes not only Alzheimers related diseases, but heart arrythmia, palpitations and skipped beats. I just sit here and wonder how many other people in the world are trying to figure out why they have heart palpitations after eating thinking that they have heart burn. I wish I could help them…no one else seems to care.

@Debbie – Me too, I get a pressure feeling around my chest when a meal has too much MSG. You CAN tell many others about it, if you just BLOG about it on your site. Business as ususal will not change the world. :)

I wound up in a hospital emergency room 3 separate times before I found out what was causing my seriously irregular heartbeats. One M.D. called it trachycardia. The culprit was seaweed, in which MSG occurs naturally. Later, when I thought I had solved the problem it kept surfacing as I ingested other foods, the latest being Chicken of the Sea sardines in three different flavors: Tomato, Hot Spicy Tomato and Mustard.

The Cardiologist I went to the last time was totally ignorant of the situation and he wasn’t a green beginner. He’s a physician at OHSU in Portland Oregon. But then he was incompetent in other areas, so you just have to watch out for your own well being.
