THE BIBLE CODE CREDENTIALS
What the Experts say about it!

Bible Code Reveals Past, Present, and Future Events

The original discovery of the equidistant letter sequence Bible Code was made in the late 1980's by Eliyahu Rips, Professor of Mathematics at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and physicist Doron Witztum and computer programmer Yoav Rosenberg, both doing their part of the research at the Jerusalem College of Technology. The Codes phenomenon was reviewed by scientific peer groups for four years in the United States before the findings were published in the prestigious Statistical Science journal.

Statistical Science Publishes Bible Code

On publishing the article in August 1994, Dr. Robert Kass, editor of Statistical Science and chairman of the Department of Statistics at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, stated, "Our referees were baffled: Their prior beliefs made them think the book of Genesis could not possibly contain meaningful references to modern-day individuals; yet when the authors carried out additional analyses and checks, the effect persisted. The paper is offered to Statistical Science readers as a challenging puzzle."

TV Special Reveals Many Bible Code Discoveries

"This TV special is a factual account of the recent discovery of encoded messages in the Bible that could only be discovered by mathematicians with the use of modern computers," says David W. Balsiger, the producer of a Colorado-produced TV special entitled Secrets of the Bible Code Revealed. "What's particularly unusual about the Bible Code is that it reveals accurate information about historical figures as well as past, present, and future events -- future events that had not yet occurred when the Bible was written 3,500 years ago."
Although Bible Code findings are numerous, the TV special documents Hitler's rise to power; the Holocaust; the Shoemaker-Levy comet hitting Jupiter; the death of Princess Diana; the Robert and John Kennedy assassinations; the names, birth/death dates, and cities of 34 famous Jewish sages; the Oklahoma Murrah Building bombing; the Nixon Watergate scandal; the Yitzhak Rabin assassination; Thomas Edison's inventions; and discoveries about Jesus Christ. To make sure the TV special is current, show producers include the latest findings about the African U.S. Embassy terrorist bombings--19 accurate facts about the Nairobi, Kenya attack.

The Bible Code has also generated controversy in both the academic and Christian communities for different reasons. Academic critics say the findings in the Bible Code are by random chance. Meanwhile, many Christians are concerned that the Bible Code may verge on sorcery and numerology.

The TV special is partially based on two books released in September 1998 -- The Mysterious Bible Codes by Grant Jeffrey (Nelson/Word) and The Cosmic Codes by Chuck Missler (Koinonia House). Michael Drosnin, who popularized the Bible Code research through his book The Bible Code, is interviewed extensively in the TV special. But according to show producers, the special is not based on his book, because Time-Warner had already bought the film rights for a major theatrical movie.

The two-hour special is a fast-paced composite of dramatic re-creations, scientific experiments, code breaking demonstrations, interviews with proponents and critics, a recap of how the codes were discovered and authenticated, and a fascinating summary of the major findings encoded throughout the Hebrew text of the Old Testament. There is even a brief demonstration showing how non-Hebrew speaking computer buffs using the latest Bible Code Plus software can make their own pioneering discoveries.

Bible Code Discoverers Confirm Findings

"What we have exposed is that there is a hidden text in the Torah, and what we see encoded in this text is the future, the present, and the past," says physicist and code co-discoverer Doron Witztum. "Thus it encompasses all things, and that's why there's so much opposition."

"Details of events that took place thousands of years after the Bible was written are enclosed in the Bible," explains code co-discoverer Dr. Eliyahu Rips, Professor of Mathematics at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. "In a few cases, details of events have been found in the Bible before they happened. My colleague, Doron Witztum, found the exact date that the first SCUD missiles would be launched against Israel, weeks before the Gulf War started. And Michael Drosnin found a prediction of the Rabin assassination encoded in the Bible, and showed it to me more than a year before the prime minister was killed."

Bible Code Validity Demonstrated Scientifically

"We can demonstrate using the laws of quantum mechanics--specifically the uncertainty principle and chaos theory--that it's absolutely impossible within the laws of physics and mathematics to know the future in detail as is demonstrated in these [Bible] codes," explains Harold Gans, Retired Senior Cryptologic Mathematician of the U.S. National Security Agency. "Consequently, we come to the scientific conclusion that the author of these codes is not bound by the laws of physics and mathematics."

"The Bible Code is an equidistant letter sequence encrypted code within the Hebrew text of the Bible, and has nothing to do with numerology, theomatics, or gematria," says the show's co-producer Tim Mahoney. "Christians who connect it with these other practices have not read the scientific literature nor do they have any working knowledge of the Bible Code codes."

People Fear Implications of the Bible Code

The producers claim that what some people fear the most about the Bible Code is its implications to them personally and to Judaism and Christianity. They say according to some experts, modern computers being able to find the encoded information in the Bible seems to prove the existence of God. Also the Bible Code seems to document the divine inspiration of Scripture and seems to confirm Christ in Messianic prophecies.

"The Bible Codes are dramatic demonstration that what we have here is the Word of God and not simply a historical tradition," says Chuck Missler, author of Cosmic Codes: Hidden Messages From Eternity.

Grant Jeffrey, author of The Mysterious Bible Codes, says "The Bible Codes are there so when the future happens, it confirms Scripture as the divinely inspired Word of God."

"As a result of the Bible Codes, there will be a great upsurge in belief and observance both in Judaism and Christianity," says Rabbi Dr. Abba Engelberg, Computer Science Professor at the Jerusalem College of Technology. "I believe, that the world will be a more peaceful and equitable place to live because people will take the lessons of the Bible more seriously."

What Scholars and Experts Say About the Bible Code. . .

"Every major event in world history, every major figure in world history appears to be encoded in the Bible."
-- Michael Drosnin, Author, The Bible Code
World's #1 Best-Selling Nonfiction Book of 1997

"What we have exposed is that there is a hidden text in the Torah, and what we see encoded in this text is the future, the present, and the past. Thus it encompasses all things, and that's why there's so much opposition."
-- Doron Witztum
Physicist/Code Co-Discoverer

"The Bible Codes are dramatic demonstration that what we have here is the Word of God and not simply a historical tradition. The Bible's sixty-six books penned by forty different authors over thousands of years are collectively a supernatural given and skillfully engineered message system."
-- Chuck Missler
Author, Cosmic Codes: Hidden Messages From Eternity

". . . very strong scientific evidence that under intense scientific experimentation the [Bible Code] phenomenon is shown to exist and is provable as a true phenomenon."
-- Dr. Robert Aumann
Professor of Mathematics, Hebrew University

"The implications of the proof that the Bible Codes are genuine is the claim that is found from Genesis to Revelation that 'Thus saith the Lord.' The Bible claims repeatedly that it is the inspired word of God. This is remarkably unlike any other religious literature in the world. The Bible Code provides evidence that the statement is actually true."
-- Grant Jeffrey
Author, The Mysterious Bible Codes

"When I first heard about the Bible Code, I thought it was utter nonsense. I was in Israel to meet with the chief of Israeli intelligence on a totally different subject, and I heard by chance about the work that a very famous mathematician in Jerusalem had done. He had found the exact date that the Gulf War would begin in a code in the Bible. I thought this was just nonsense. . . Instead of spending an hour with Dr. Rips, I spent a week with him, and at the end of the week, I knew he was on to something real."
-- Michael Drosnin
Author, The Bible Code

"Our referees were baffled: Their prior beliefs made them think the book of Genesis could not possibly contain meaningful references to modern-day individuals; yet when the authors carried out additional analyses and checks, the effect persisted. The paper is offered to Statistical Science readers as a challenging puzzle."
-- Dr. Robert Kass
Editor, Statistical Science
Chairman of the Department of Statistics

"The best evidence that the Bible Codes are authentic comes from the words that can be composed from letters which are equidistant from each other. Those words frequently predict the future or shed light on the surface text from which they are taken. As a result of the Bible Codes, there will be a great upsurge in belief and observance both in Judaism and Christianity. I believe that the world will be a more peaceful and equitable place to live because people will take the lessons of the Bible more seriously."
-- Rabbi Dr. Abba Engelberg

"While the critics of the Bible Code continue to attack the original Bible Code discoveries, numerous Bible Code software developers have commercially advanced Bible Code discoveries way beyond the pioneer findings of the late 1980's. This old, ongoing academic debate between Bible Code critics and proponents is no longer relevant nor do they even address the new research and discoveries of today. The Bible Code is real with the face and findings of Bible Code research changing rapidly."
-- Roy Reinhold
Bible Code Software Consultant/Reviewer

"I think if the Bible Codes are demonstrated to be real -- both Jews and Christians will have to re-examine the Bible and see how it impacts their lives. I think the world will ignore much of the information. It has ignored important lessons in the past. However, the personal message will be, `How do you run your life in light of this new information."
-- Gerald Schroeder, Ph.D.
Author, The Science of God

"The scientific research carried out by Doron Witztum, Yoav Rosenberg, and myself shows that there is a code in the book of Genesis. Details of events that took place thousands of years after the Bible was written are enclosed in the Bible. In a few cases, details of events have been found in the Bible before they happened. My colleague, Doron Witztum, found the exact date that the first SCUD missiles would be launched against Israel, weeks before the Gulf War started. "Computer Bible Code Software research and development is moving at light-year speed_yet it will be years before the full extent of what the Bible Code has to tell us is fully known. We now know that the entire tannach, commonly known as the Old Testament, has encoded information within the Hebrew text. Originally, it was thought that only the Torah contained Bible Codes. New equidistant letter sequence research is moving beyond the nominal word association pattern discoveries of the past to complex matrix discoveries_ instantly decoding from any Old Testament book in-depth information about a person or event."
-- Roy Reinhold

"The best evidence regarding the Bible Code isn't just that the names occur but that they occur clustered in provocative ways with relevance to the plain text. In Isaiah 53, which is the high point of the entire Old Testament dealing with the anticipated crucifixion of Christ in 15 verses, you've got 40 names_all the people who were at the foot of the cross encrypted and clustered there. What's so provocative are the names that should occur that don't_like Judas. You can't escape the fact that these things are beyond the realm of just accidental curiosities -- they're there by design."
-- Chuck Missler
Author, Cosmic Codes: Hidden Messages from Eternity

"While much Bible Code research to date has been on finding historical information about deceased historical figures and past historical events, the new matrix decoding systems combined with translation software, lexicons, and dictionary searches open up the strong possibilities that people may be able to find themselves and/or future events in the Bible Code. The technology and software is close at hand to determine once and for all if this is possible!"
-- Roy Reinhold

"There are several things that have to be understood about 'equidistant letter sequence' coding. Just looking for words—virtually any words as an equidistant letter sequence you'll find them in the book of Genesis, you'll find them in War and Peace, you'll find them in any sufficiently long text that you try to find them in, particularly if you are using a computer. In any case, what is found is generally random. You have to apply statistical analysis to determine whether or not what you found is in fact random, or is in fact well beyond what you'd expect to find at random."

"I am a reporter, formerly with the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal, now a best-selling author.
"I have uncovered information that suggests your life is in danger.
"An Israeli mathematician has discovered a hidden code in the Bible that appears to reveal the details of events that took place thousands of years after the Bible was written.
"I can't explain how, because I'm not religious. But I've been investigating this for two years, and there is no doubt that the information is there.
"The reason I'm telling you about this is that the only time your full name—Yitzhak Rabin—is encoded in the Bible, the words 'assassin that will assassinate' cross your name.
"That should not be ignored. . . that is why I'm calling this to your attention. I think you are in real danger."
-- Excerpts from the Michael Drosnin Letter To Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin
September 1, 1994

"The whole world is concerned and talking about the Year 2000 computer bug... known as the Y2K problem. The Bible Code seems to relate to this concern on a number of topics that merit further investigation and research."
-- Roy Reinhold
Bible Code Software Consultant/Reviewer

"In my research of the Bible code in the Masoretic text of Hebrew—without the aid of a computer—in Genesis, first chapter, I have found over 800 names of biblical characters and places. God has encoded all of history in advance. The names of God—Jehovah, Jesus, Messiah—as well as Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Israel are just a few examples of the codes within the first chapter of Genesis. Every one of these names are verifiable throughout Scripture from the surface text. The first chapter of Genesis is an awesome matrix of codes."
